Formed in 1983 the East Surrey Group is open to all members of the Ramblers' Association whether or not they live in East Surrey. Prospective members are welcome to come on two or three walks before joining the R.A.
The Group organises a year round programme of weekend walks, mainly alternating between Saturday and Sunday. On the first and third Wednesday of each month a group of members walk a long-distance path, in easy stages. Also, we have weekends away in both spring and autumn.
The Group also has a popular social section holding a variety of different events throughout the year .

At the Edenbridge and Oxted Show held on 29 & 30 August 2010 the East Surrey Group, together with the Kent Area, had a stand to promote the Ramblers.
We held a competition to guess the total distance of public footpaths and bridleways in Kent and Surrey.
The winner was Don Roffey of South Godstone whose guess of 6,957 miles was the closest to the correct answer of 6,343 miles.
Other entries ranged from 2,200 to 52,169! Don wins the prize of £50 of vouchers kindly donated by Simply Sports of Oxted and Reigate.
